goodbye to an old friend.

I always seem to wish all my readers a belated new years– but Happy 2013 everyone.
One of the biggest lessons that I’ve learned in the last 6 months is that life is short.
Too short to hold on to things that don’t matter.
And I am not one for resolutions but there’s always room for perpetual life improvements.
So 2013 will be the year to be bold enough to let go. Continue reading

tenDollar dinner for two.

Recently I made a dinner for my bestFriend and I for our movie night that cost less than $10.00.
It fed the both of us AND I had enough for lunch the next day.
I posted a photo of it up on instagram and got a lot of positive feedback along with a lot of people asking for the recipe, so I decided to just post it  up for everyone.

There’s no official name for this dish; it’s a bowtie pasta tossed in olive oil with basil, diced tomatoes, garlic, and sausage (which is optional if you go the veggie route–just as good btw). The prep is super easy, the cooking is super easy (you’re basically throwing everything in a pan and just mixing), and it requires very little time overall to make.

Pasta tossed in extra virgin olive oil w/ garlic, diced tomatos, basil, and sausage. Perfect dinner–perfect lunch.

It’s true what they say: time flies and life happens. So here are 8 pictures and 8 descriptions that capture the essence of each month up to now.

**I’ve hashTagged very simply what I’m wearing in the photo captions to try and stay true to the nature of this blog 🙂

DIY: oreo peppermint truffles.

Happy Belated NEW YEAR everyone!

One thing I love besides anything green is food….especially chocolate, and I have finally been blessed with the gift of free time. So I’ve been venturing out and learning how to cook/bake different things that I’ve always wanted to learn how to make. And over my winter break, I learned how to make oreo peppermint truffles from a friend (Thanks Sunny!). Continue reading

2011 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2011 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A New York City subway train holds 1,200 people. This blog was viewed about 3,900 times in 2011. If it were a NYC subway train, it would take about 3 trips to carry that many people.

Merry Christmas Darling.

This year was the second Christmas that my brother and I’ve spent with our parents on the other side of the world. It really makes you think about what makes a holiday a holiday….For me, it’s the familiar traditions that I’ve taken for granted like church, Christmas Eve Waffle House dinners, Christmas day movie outings, but most of all that feeling of comfort knowing that all of your family is in one place for once.

This year Christmas was very different. But I put every effort into making it special in it’s own way….remembering that the people you spend it with, how you spend it, and where you spend it may change from year to year, but the reason we celebrate Christmas is always the same.

So I’ve put together a picture compilation of my 2011 Christmas.
Enjoy!

Christmas Outfit.

Christmas Outfit–I saw a lot of red being worn this year as always…so I decided to be me and wear green…the other holiday color of choice. Dress: Twelve by Twelve // Shoes: Christian Louboutin Very Simple Pumps in nude Continue reading

what’s in my purse.

I’ve always been the girl who has always had to carry a big bag. I don’t know what it is, but it’s definitely become a security thing for me. And occasionally I will get the question: “What all do you carry in that big purse?” So I thought I’d dump everything out and just list the things I carry on my person on the daily. It makes me wonder: do all women carry the same things?? Let me know 🙂

What’s in my purse.

let’s play dress up.

So first off I wanted to wish my girlfriend and fellow blogger Clandestine Craves a happy belated birthday!
This post is dedicated to you sweets!

The past two weeks were filled with excitement and dress up opportunities.
It’s very rare, being the age I am, that I get to step outside of my style/and current fashion trends. But once a year, Halloween comes around and I either really get into it or I just sit around and do nothing. This year I got lucky and found the PERFECT costume that definitely defines me and my style. I got to dress up as a green Crayola Crayon (Screamin’ Green)–perfect right?? It was a fun, cheap ($15.00 kids costume + $5.00 Walmart wig), and easy costume that was unique. So I got to dress up and had an eventful Halloween 2011~
Here are a few captured memories from this year:

October Shoe Haul.

Hello!
I feel like that’s the best greeting I have because it’s been too long since my last post.
I’ve missed being able to share all of my ventures both fashion and non-fashion related.
A lot has been going on since the last time I posted but mostly my life has been overtaken with school and books!

(Not that it has stopped me from shopping or making sure there is life in  my closet…just no time for updates….no excuses)

Anyways the weather has been slowly easing from warm to cold….and so I felt that it would be appropriate to stock up on fall and winter shoes. So here is my Fall/October Shoe Haul for you all. Continue reading

And by stacks I mean stacks of bracelets on my wrist!
