goodbye to an old friend.

I always seem to wish all my readers a belated new years– but Happy 2013 everyone.
One of the biggest lessons that I’ve learned in the last 6 months is that life is short.
Too short to hold on to things that don’t matter.
And I am not one for resolutions but there’s always room for perpetual life improvements.
So 2013 will be the year to be bold enough to let go.

2011 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2011 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A New York City subway train holds 1,200 people. This blog was viewed about 3,900 times in 2011. If it were a NYC subway train, it would take about 3 trips to carry that many people.

let’s play dress up.

So first off I wanted to wish my girlfriend and fellow blogger Clandestine Craves a happy belated birthday!
This post is dedicated to you sweets!

The past two weeks were filled with excitement and dress up opportunities.
It’s very rare, being the age I am, that I get to step outside of my style/and current fashion trends. But once a year, Halloween comes around and I either really get into it or I just sit around and do nothing. This year I got lucky and found the PERFECT costume that definitely defines me and my style. I got to dress up as a green Crayola Crayon (Screamin’ Green)–perfect right?? It was a fun, cheap ($15.00 kids costume + $5.00 Walmart wig), and easy costume that was unique. So I got to dress up and had an eventful Halloween 2011~
Here are a few captured memories from this year:

October Shoe Haul.

Hello!
I feel like that’s the best greeting I have because it’s been too long since my last post.
I’ve missed being able to share all of my ventures both fashion and non-fashion related.
A lot has been going on since the last time I posted but mostly my life has been overtaken with school and books!

(Not that it has stopped me from shopping or making sure there is life in  my closet…just no time for updates….no excuses)

Anyways the weather has been slowly easing from warm to cold….and so I felt that it would be appropriate to stock up on fall and winter shoes. So here is my Fall/October Shoe Haul for you all.

in three weeks time.

In three weeks time, clandestine craves and I will be Mexico bound with our men-friends ;]
And before I go, I have a few things that I definitely want to have in my suitcase.
As always since I’m on a budget, it has taken me some time to find certain things because I have to know where to look.
But I’ve been lucky to find some of these things–the only down side is I definitely need to cut back on the money spending.

Here’s my list of things I would like to have in three weeks time:

freebie.

This is just a freebie post for all of my readers 🙂

If you grew up (or were around) in the late 80’s and 90’s you know that Blockbuster was one of the most popular places to visit when you had nothing else to do. Blockbuster was a big part of my life growing up–my family and I would frequently rent then VHS’s/now DVD’s at Blockbuster and just enjoy each other’s company at home. My friends and I would also go to Blockbuster a lot to get a stack of movies to watch on summer nights. I grew up with Blockbuster and sadly as technology has continued to advance and people have become accustomed to fast paced lifestyles, laziness, and a bad economy, companies like Redbox and Netflix have given a reason for Blockbusters to become obsolete.

Hair Review

So recently I’ve been catching up with a lot of important people in my life, and had lunch with a dear friend from middle school.
She was telling me about the Aveda Institute of Atlanta–and how their students do hair for a pretty decent price, so I booked an appointment to try something new with my hair since it’s always been straight and short.

DIY: Valentine

Happy Belated Valentines Day ❤

This year to my surprise–the mister gave me my card before I could give him one.
As a kid–and even now, I loved arts and crafts, and considering I haven’t done anything artistic in such as long time, I decided to be cute and creative this year  while visiting my inner child to make a handmade Valentine’s Day card for the mister.
It was very inexpensive considering I used to scrapbook as a hobby and I had some stuff laying around in my  apartment.
But even if you don’t have fancy scrapbook stuff laying around a handmade Valentine is easy, cheap and a very thoughtful gift.
I was always a card person growing up–my parents always said that a sentiment expressed with a card was worth more than anyt gift that could be bought.
So after a failed attempt to take a nap (because my upstair neighbor was bumpin his music, his subwoofer, and his voice–all which were clearly audible) I started digging around my room for my scraps and goodies.
Here’s what I started with:

snowDAYS

Happy Belated New Year–
12 days into the new year and things have been different already. Not only have I finally made the switch over to a new bloghost, but Atlanta has finally gotten some snow–it was pretty to look at at first, but now–I must day being snowed/iced in for three days straight without any human contact has been slightly frustrating. But we should always count our blessings.
Although I usually don’t do new years resolutions, I did have one that I hope to use as guideline to being a grownup.

So in 2011 I will:
1. Spend less money than I did in 2010–(so per paycheck I will: give 10%, save 20% and live on the rest)

Here’s a picture of the snow that I took from my balcony.
Enjoy and Happy New Year ;]
