prints.

Lately I’ve found myself going against my natural instincts of buying simplistic clothes and going more towards prints (cheaper ones at that).
I’ve realized it’s definitely one way to dress up an outfit without too much layering or going over board.
Paired with the right jewelry, prints are perfect for both day and night (I even get to feel a little more dressed up going into work at a lab).
Here’s a few printed tops/pieces I’ve accumulated over  the past few weeks.
I tried not to make these photos so boring but I did take these myself so be forewarned!

Father’s Day Frolics: Food,Fashion,&Fun.

I hope everyone had a wonderful father’s day and got to spend it with their daddy’s. This is the first year spending father’s day without my dad as he is fulfilling his dreams halfway across the world. But I sure did and always miss him. So to keep myself busy and my mind off being without my daddy (as I am a daddy’s girl)–my manfriend and I enjoyed a day of laziness and frolicking around town for some fun stuff.

Elation: Cozumel Edition

I took my first cruise (ever) this past Thursday with clandestine craves & our manfriends. We embarked (yeah you like that big word) on the Carnival Elation that ported out of Mobile, Al.and it was quite a trip and a much needed overdue vacation with great friends. Just thought I’d share with you all a few of the beautiful things that I saw and the fun things we got to do in a totally different country through just a few (although it will seem like a lot) of the millions of pictures that we took over the duration of our trip.

in three weeks time.

In three weeks time, clandestine craves and I will be Mexico bound with our men-friends ;]
And before I go, I have a few things that I definitely want to have in my suitcase.
As always since I’m on a budget, it has taken me some time to find certain things because I have to know where to look.
But I’ve been lucky to find some of these things–the only down side is I definitely need to cut back on the money spending.

Here’s my list of things I would like to have in three weeks time: Continue reading

back to basics.

Exactly a week and one day ago–I wrote a review on the hair service that I received. Since then I’ve been acting out about my hair and have been extremely unhappy and annoyed with it. I had it in a pony tail for two weeks (not bagging on pony tails but I do get bored pretty easily).

So today I finally decided to do something about it and just get it cut short like I always have it (although I did promise myself and a few other people that I would try to let it grow out.) I really don’t think I have the patience to grow my hair out long ever….ever ever. Sorry guys 🙂 Continue reading

freebie.

This is just a freebie post for all of my readers 🙂

If you grew up (or were around) in the late 80’s and 90’s you know that Blockbuster was one of the most popular places to visit when you had nothing else to do. Blockbuster was a big part of my life growing up–my family and I would frequently rent then VHS’s/now DVD’s at Blockbuster and just enjoy each other’s company at home. My friends and I would also go to Blockbuster a lot to get a stack of movies to watch on summer nights. I grew up with Blockbuster and sadly as technology has continued to advance and people have become accustomed to fast paced lifestyles, laziness, and a bad economy, companies like Redbox and Netflix have given a reason for Blockbusters to become obsolete. Hair Review

So recently I’ve been catching up with a lot of important people in my life, and had lunch with a dear friend from middle school.
She was telling me about the Aveda Institute of Atlanta–and how their students do hair for a pretty decent price, so I booked an appointment to try something new with my hair since it’s always been straight and short. Continue reading

one (wo)man’s trash–another (wo)man’s treasure.

Dear Readers (YES all 5 of you!–ha I kid),

It’s been way too long since I have posted (mostly because I was so busy hanging out with my mom while she was in town). Now that she’s gone back home I felt the only way to cure the blues was to write about one of the fun things we did together. I also haven’t put up many outfit posts with pictures of me wearing the clothes I write about so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity.
So while mom was in town we took a Saturday and jumped from thrift store to thrift store. The best one we came across was a giant Goodwill located in Norcross, GA. Although the difficult part of finding things is the time you have to invest in rummaging–but I must tell you if you look hard enough you can get some amazing things for way cheap.
I ended up picking up some awesome things I am waiting to wear when the weather gets a little warmer: a long floral print skirt, a one piece floral print dress, and two vintage Coach bags all for under $30.00.
My mom found a lot more things but wouldn’t allow me to photograph her (although she did give me a fashion show of all of her finds when we got home). She said “no paparazzi”. Continue reading

luck of the Irish.

HAPPY MY FAVORITE COLOR (green) DAY EVERYONE!
Also known as Saint Patrick’s Day apparently…..
I really don’t need this holiday to celebrate my favorite color….some of you know that I celebrate this color everyday in almost a compulsive manner (hence the name mg).

Either way, in honor of this day I decided to put together a list of a few things (green of course) that I could only get my hands on through the “luck of the Irish”–meaning it might cost me a pot of gold to get my hands on these things. But it never hurts to chase the rainbow….or the leprechaun–whichever gets me to the gold!

i shop at the same store as my mom.

Have you ever: gone shopping as a little girl with your mom and followed her into what you thought were “lady” stores?
I know I definitely did when I was growing up….I felt like my mom had to drag me or bribe me to go into stores like Talbots or Ann Taylor (her favorite store to date) ALL the time. I would follow my mom around the store bored out of my mind and then trail after her into the dressing room and sit on the floor and tell her she looked pretty.
Now I have to admit–I still dread going into Talbots and some other stores; but lately–I have found myself rummaging through the sale racks at Ann Taylor and have come to find things that I thought were cute. **Gasp** My mom doesn’t have to bribe me anymore to accompany her to Ann Taylor–instead, we try on clothes together in the same dressing room. And the best part is, mom gets so excited that we shop at the same store, she offers to buy me what I end up liking.
So this last time I went with my mom to the mall, I picked up two cute sweaters; and recently had the opportunity to wear one to a casual dinner with some friends.  I have to say–the sweater=cute, the quality of the sweater=excellent, and the price=awesome.
And as a side note– my nude wedges finally came in so I threw together a really simple but classic outfit for this dinner.
